Description
The Siyari is an ancient traditional percussion instrument of the Frafra people of Bolgatanga in northern Ghana. The body is a dried gourd which is hollowed and cleaned. Stones are placed in side. They are juggled between the hands and produce crisp or sandy effects depending on which technique is used.
Exclusivity
Traditionally called Atoke, these iron forged bells are Ghanaian Ewe instruments.
Holding the same instrumental role as the Agogo, these accompaniment bells are vital as time keepers in an ensemble. Played by craddling in the weaker hand and striking with the dominant hand. They produce different pitches depending on where they’re struck. They also make ideal dunun bells!
